If you’re still using Windows XP, you should know that in 2014 Microsoft will no longer support it. This means there will not be any security updates or patches. If you are a small business with several older PCs, you should start thinking now about replacing them with Windows 7 machines.

I have Windows XP on my home computer — should I purchase a new version ?

Also, I am getting a message on the computer that states — ” You are using a version of Internet Explorer which will soon be unsupported. Some features may not work correctly. Upgrade to a modern browser, such as Google Chrome.”
Please advise. Thank you.

There is no reason to upgrade from XP to Windows 7. Particularly if your computer is older, it may not have the resources to run a more recent operating system.

Most browser issues can be resolved with a quick remote appointment. In the case of gmail’s message asking you to switch to their browser (i.e., Chrome), it is safe to ignore it and permanently close the message.
